Weigh feeders are used to control the rate of product flow into a process or to combine a number of feeders to proportion different products in a blending process.

In blending plants the different product weigh feeders will normally be controlled by an M-CON 2000 microprocessor controller, PC and PLC combination with comprehensive management reporting facilities including recipe formulations and data logging. A SCADA system will form the operator's interface.

Typical applications include fertilizers, chemicals, cement, mining and food industries.

Our belt feeders are fitted with weigh belts with a flexible wall to prevent spillage and the need for skirts on the belt. Provision is also made for an automatic belt tensioning device for optimum measurement accuracy.

Feed rates

Weigh feeders are normally used in the feed rate range between 1 t/h and several 100's of t/h. Through the design process, we will select a suitable belt width, belt speed and belt loading. The weigh feeder controller measures the belt loading and belt speed and adjusts the belt speed to achieve the required feed rate.

In applications requiring low flow rates i.e. 100 kg/h, our loss-in-weight feeders are used based on the principle of mass reduction over time in a feed bin. Various product feeders are used, depending on the product characteristics. These include screws, belts and rotary vane feeders.

Calibration

Easy to use calibration facilities are available on the M-CON 2000 microprocessor controller for belt speed sensing, automatic zero adjustment and span adjustment. Automatic belt zero adjustment is also performed by the controller when the belt runs without product. AC motors with frequency drives are used to adjust the belt speed for the required feed rate.
