Technical Features
  1. Reshaping the Velocity Profile
  2. Since the cone is suspended in the center of the pipe, it interacts directly with the high velocity flow. The cone forces the high velocity flow to mix with the low velocity flow closer to the pipe wall. This is an important advantage of the V-cone at lower flowrate.

  3. High Accuracy
  4. The V-cone primary element can be accurate to +/-0.5% of reading. The accuracy is dependent on application parameters and secondary instrument.

  5. Excellent repeatability
  6. The V-cone primary element has excellent repeatability of +/-0.1% or even better

  7. Wide Turn-down Ratio
  8. The turn-down ratio of the V-cone is much bigger than that of traditional DP meters. A typical turn-down ratio for V-cone is 10:1

  9. Low Straight Pipe Requirement
  10. Since the V-cone can flatten the velocity profile, so it has low straight pipe requirement. Only 0 ~ 3D for upstream;0 ~ 1D for downstream.

  11. Long Term Performance
  12. The contoured shape of the V-cone constricts the flow without impacting the flow against an abrupt surface. A boundary layer forms along the v-cone and directs the fluid away from the beta edge. This means the beta edge will not be subject to the usual wear by unclear fluids, as is the case with an orifice plate. The beta coefficient will then remain unchanged for long term and the meter so held accuracy for a much longer time.

  13. Low Pressure Loss
  14. Without impacting of an abrupt surface, the permanent pressure loss is lower than a typical orifice plate. Pressure loss is only 1/3-1/5 of that of orifice plate for the same β.

  15. Wide β Coefficient
  16. The unique geometry of the V-cone allows for a wide range of beta coefficient. Standard beta coefficients. range from 0.45, 0.55, 0.65, 0.75 and 0.85

  17. No Stagnation Area
  18. Due to the contour of the V-cone not allow for stagnation area where debris, coagulum.or particles from the fluid could accumulate.

  19. Mixing
  20. The short vortices will mix the fluid thoroughly just downstream of the V-cone. The V-cone is currently used in many applications as a mixer.

  21. Signal stability
  22. Signal fluctuation is only 1/10 of orifice plate
